woman and child playing in poolACTIVE2010 is a comprehensive strategy to increase participation in sport and physical activity throughout Ontario. It is linked to the Canadian Sport Policy, the recently announced national Healthy Living Strategy and directly supports the Government priority of "Better Health". It is directed at the achievement of higher physical activity rates, increased sport participation rates and lower childhood obesity prevalence within the Province in order to reduce the incidence of chronic diseases associated with inactivity and ultimately ease health care costs.

The Strategy is designed to strengthen Government leadership and also to provide focus to a complex and in some cases fragmented sector in order to achieve common goals.
