Healthy Kids Panel
Ontario has an ambitious goal to reduce childhood obesity by 20 per cent over five years. Achieving this goal will help to keep Ontario healthy and is part of the Action Plan for Health Care.
By helping kids and their families lead healthier lives today, we can decrease the chance kids will be overweight or obese when they get older.
Obesity can lead to diseases like diabetes, cancer and heart disease, and costs Ontario’s health care system $4.5 billion.
Successfully meeting our target will require partnership across all sectors including health care leaders, non-profit organizations, and industry.
That is why Ontario has created a panel of experts to recommend how we can keep more kids at healthy weights.
The Healthy Kids Panel will report back in late 2012.
