Planning an active vacation or building active time into your family vacation is a great way to have fun as a family.   Get input from your children as much as possible during the planning stages so that they are willing and excited about doing the activities once you get there.

Active vacation ideas

Warm weather

  • go camping - spend time hiking or canoeing and enjoying the great outdoors
  • go on an adventure - try ziplining, caving or rock climbing in Ontario
  • walk, bike or rollerblade to as many sites and attractions as possible -- you may discover something special and new along the way
  • play frisbee on the beach or in the pool, lake or ocean
  • pack tennis, badminton or paddle racquets and balls - a great way for your kids to meet new friends
  • walk to local festivals and attractions on foot

Cold weather

  • check the website of your vacation destination for indoor and outdoor activities offered and get your family to choose the ones they want to do
  • go dog sledding for a break from the traditional ski vacation
  • visit a museum or historical site and walk around
