  • Association of Local Public Health Agencies (alPHa)
    alPHa  represents all 36 public health units and Boards of Health in Ontario.   Members are medical officers of health, associate medical officers of health and Board of health members.  AlPHa advises and lends expertise to these members on the governance, administration and management of health units.
  • Best Start Resource Centre
    Ontario's Best Start Resource Centre supports health care and service providers working on health promotion initiatives.   The Centre provides reports, workshops, consultations and subject specific information.   It also offers a wide-range of helpful, multilingual resources for health care and service providers to support expectant and new parents (including both mom and dad), newborns and young children on a variety of topics including: Abuse and Pregnancy, Alcohol and Pregnancy, Breastfeeding, Child Development, Environmental Health, How To Resources, Languages Other than English and French, Low Birth Weight, Nutrition, Postpartum Mood Disorders, Preconception Health, Reproductive Health, Smoking, Socio Economic Status and Workplace.
  • Brock University – Leave The Pack Behind (LTPB)
    Leave The Pack Behind is a comprehensive, age-tailored, tobacco control initiative for young adults on post-secondary campuses.
  • Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Division
    The Canadian Cancer Society is a national, community-based organization of volunteers whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer.  The society delivers the Smokers’ Helpline service for Ontarians who want to quit smoking.
  • Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA)
    The Canadian Diabetes Association’s mission is to lead the fight against diabetes by helping people with diabetes live healthy lives while they work to find a cure.
  • Cancer Care Ontario (CCO)
    Cancer Care Ontario is the provincial agency responsible for continually improving cancer services. As the government’s cancer advisor, Cancer Care Ontario works to reduce the number of people diagnosed with cancer, and make sure patients receive better care every step of the way.
  • Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)
    The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada's largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital, as well as one of the world's leading research centres in the area of addiction and mental health. CAMH is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, and is a Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization Collaborating Centre.

    DC is the nation-wide voice of dietitians - the most trusted source of information on food and nutrition for Canadians.
  • EatRight Ontario
    EatRight Ontario provides support and information to improve health and quality of life through healthy, nutritious eating. This service, which includes a telephone consultation service is delivered by the Dietitians of Canada, and provides easy-to-use nutrition information to help make healthier food choices easier.
  • Health Promotion - Public Health Agency of Canada
    The Public Health Agency of Canada’s mission is to promote and protect the health of Canadians through leadership, partnership, innovation and action in public health.
  • Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario (HSFO)
    The Heart and Stroke Foundation, a volunteer-based health charity, leads in eliminating heart disease and stroke through the advancement of research and its application; the promotion of healthy living; and advocacy.
  • Non-Smokers Rights Association
    The NSRA is a voluntary non-profit health organization that has worked exclusively in the field of tobacco control for over 30 years. Its mission is to promote public health by eliminating illness and death caused by tobacco, including second-hand smoke.
  • Ontario Association of Non-Profit Homes and Services for Seniors
    The Ontario Association of Non-Profit Homes and Services for Seniors represents and supports its members in providing a continuum of quality not-for-profit long term care, seniors’ community services and housing.
  • Ontario Campaign for Action on Tobacco (OCAT)
    The OCAT's current objective is to support the government successfully implement the Smoke-Free Ontario Act.
  • Ontario Federation of Indian Friendship Centres (OFIFC)
    The Ontario Federation of Indian Friendship Centres represents 29 friendship centres across Ontario. Their aim is to improve the quality of life for Aboriginal people living in an urban environment by supporting self-determined activities which encourage equal access to and participation in Canadian society and which respects Aboriginal cultural distinctiveness.

    The Lung Association is a provincial, community-based organization whose mission is to be the recognized leader, voice and primary resource in lung health to enable all people to breathe with ease.
  • Ontario Physical and Health Education Association (OPHEA)
    Since 1921, OPHEA has been working to support the health and learning of children and youth in Ontario. OPHEA is a not-for-profit organization led by the vision that all kids value, participate in, and make a lifelong-commitment to healthy active living.
  • Ontario Public Health Association (OPHA)
    The mission of the Ontario Public Health Association is to provide leadership on issues affecting the public's health and to strengthen the impact of people who are active in public and community health throughout Ontario.  Membership is made of public health practitioners.
  • Ontario Tobacco Research Unit (OTRU)
    The Ontario Tobacco Research Unit (OTRU) is an Ontario-based research network that is recognized as a Canadian leader in tobacco control research, monitoring and evaluation, teaching and training and as a respected source of science based information on tobacco control.
  • University of Ottawa Heart Institute (OHI)
    OHI is Canada’s largest and foremost cardiovascular health centre dedicated to understanding, treating and prevention heart disease.  The OHI have been operating a clinical smoking cessation program since the 1990s.
  • ParticipACTION
    ParticipACTION is a national not-for-profit organization solely dedicated to inspiring and supporting active living and sport participation for Canadians. 
  • Public Health Ontario (formerly Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion)
    Public Health Ontario (PHO) is an arm's-length government agency dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of all Ontarians and reducing inequities in health. PHO links public health practitioners, front-line health workers and researchers to the best scientific intelligence and knowledge from around the world.
  • Public Health Units
    Health units administer health promotion and disease prevention programs to inform the public about reproductive health, child health, prevention of injuries and substance misuse, chronic disease prevention, including comprehensive tobacco control, healthy growth and development including parenting education, health education for all age groups, selected screening services and policy development.
  • Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO)
    The Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO) is the professional association representing registered nurses in Ontario and is host of the best practice guidelines for nurses.
  • Smoking and Health Action Foundation (SHAF)
    SHAF is a national, non-profit health organization formed in 1974 to conduct public policy research and education designed to reduce tobacco-related disease and death. SHAF is the sister organization of the NSRA, and acts as a policy think-tank for governments and NGOs in Canada and abroad.

    The Conference Board builds leadership capacity for a better Canada by creating and sharing insights on economic trends, public policy and organizational performance.
  • SMARTRISK
    SMARTRISK is a national charity dedicated to preventing injuries and saving lives, by helping Canadians to see and manage the risks in their lives. Our main focus is youth, the age group at peak risk for injury.  The charity’s mission is to empower youth through education, programming and policy change to recognize and manage their risks of injury in the smartest ways possible.

Government of Ontario

  • Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care
    The ministry is responsible for administering the health care system and providing services to the Ontario public through such programs as health insurance, drug benefits, assistive devices, care for the mentally ill, long-term care, home care, community and public health, and health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP)  
    The province of Ontario offers payment on a wide variety of medically necessary health services through the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). To access these medically necessary healthcare services, Ontario residents must have a provincial Health Card. An Ontario Health Card also entitles Ontario residents access to medical facilities across the province and in most other provinces in Canada.     Telehealth Ontario provides a free and confidential service whereby Ontarians can get advice and information from Registered Nurses. The service is available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, year-round.

    A youth-oriented website that profiles individual success stories, programs and services and provides important information on education, health, work, coming of age and recreation.
