Sporting events are more than just games to tobacco companies. "We use sports as an avenue for advertising our products." This was from an internal memo at R.J. Reynolds. And they've been true to their word. In 1999, Big Tobacco spent $113.6 million in the U.S. on sports and sporting events.

Arcade

Hanging out in a video arcade is a great way to spend an afternoon with your friends. Of course, that's unless you live in Chile. A tobacco company there allegedly hired models to hand out free cigarettes to kids in shopping malls, clubs and video arcades. Now that's low.

Chip Bag

Imagine salt and vinegar flavoured cigarettes. Sounds crazy, but it's not that big of a stretch. In an effort to attract new smokers in the U.S., some tobacco companies have started marketing candy-flavoured cigarettes. And they still claim they're not targeting youth.

Flower and Vase

Flowers are a great way to show someone you like that you're interested in them. And if you're a non-smoker you've got an even better chance of making a great impression. 79% of guys and 82% of girls say it is nicer to date people who don't smoke.

Fridge

A well-stocked fridge is a must when you're hanging out with your friends. But did you know that smoking cigarettes can diminish your sense of taste? As if cigarettes weren't already bad enough.

Lava Lamp

1965 was a pretty amazing year. Not only did Edward Craven Walker introduce the world to the lava lamp, but the U.S. government also banned cigarette makers from advertising on television.
