5. Confidentiality
The Ministry recognizes that sport hosting is a highly competitive endeavor, in which bid preparation and government support decisions can give a competitive edge. Information provided to the Ministry will be treated in confidence, and not released to other parties without the requestor’s permission, subject to the requirements of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), and will not be disclosed, except for the purpose of assessing the request for financial support and administering any support that may be awarded by the Government, without the consent of the entity about whom the information relates, unless the Ministry is obligated to disclose such information in accordance with to FIPPA, by order of a court or tribunal or pursuant to a legal proceeding.
At some point the Ministry might want to develop and publish best practice information based on information received from requestors. Please clearly identify any information that is submitted that you do not want the Ministry to include in such a best practices document, and provide a rationale for the request.
